Trip to Teluk Intan

This week was my sis's final week break ... my dad planned to take us on a one day trip to Teluk Intan coz he read an article on 22nd of July - The Star newspaper that there are lots of food to savor ... So we left about 9am then had our breakfast outside the coffee shop before we start
ed our journey.
Dad took the old road to Teluk Intan - using the Kuala Selangor way. I
felt so uncomfortable passing through the Kuala Selangor as the road is very very windy and I feel like puking and dizzy :( ...
Here are some pix that I snapped as we travel along the old road to
our place of destination ...
beautiful clouds

Later then, dad stopped by a shop where we could try out some toast bread ... (find something to munch) haha

Food wise - moderate only .. the coffee is really kaw. Dad enjoys it so much. but the toastie bread was so~so~ only coz there isn't enough of kaya .. oops, forget to tell you guys, this coffee shop is situated at Tanjung Karang.

coffee, toast bread with kaya = RM 3.30

This is where they steam the bread. .. hmm, kinda new to me .. using the boiling water compartment to steam the bread .. haha .. good idea ...
Here's the paddy fields ... haha .. I draw a lot during my art class last time .. better view in real ... :)

Finally, we've reached Teluk Intan about 12pm ... We weren't sure about the where abouts as we only have the newspaper to lead us to those food places, so what dad did was stop by at an optician shop and asked for the directions. The girl was kind enough to do so, she lead us to where my dad asked her ...
So the first thing we tried was the steamed peanuts ... take a look at the pix ..

steamed peanutz ...

here's the price and how they packed it .. shape of a cone - that's RM2

The taste of the peanuts wasn't that fascinating ... the lady didn't steam it long enough so when it's supposed to be soft, it turn out the other way .. yupz .. it's hard .. and we didn't enjoy eating it .. The price is cheap, RM2 for such a big pax .. Mom have to steam it again when we are back .. so it'll taste better - hopefully ..

Next stop is the biscuit shop - Sin Joo Heong Confectionery. As we all know, Teluk Intan is famous for it's biscuits - heong paeng. Indeed, we bought a few paxs for family and friends .. yep .. not forgetting my darling too.. hahah .. I've tried it when I reached home just now. It tasted nice ... I wanted to snap the manufacturing part, but the boss doesn't allow me too .. haha, too bad, perhaps next time. :)
Btw peeps. there are two of these shops, the first one - "forget the name dy" so go to the second one - which is this one .. Tiger Head ..

This shop is located at Jalan Mak Intan ..

The next stop was at a soya bean stall at Jalan Maharani. A packet of soya bean and a bowl of tau foo fah only cost 60 cents!!!! ... and the tau foo fah just as smooth as silk ... just that it's a bit too sweet .:S .. hahah

We then head to Jalan Selat for the Mee Rebus and Rojak .. it was dissapointing!!!!! .. Really dissapointing... The name of the shop is shown below -
Mee Rebus - RM2.5

The noodles wasn't fresh at all . as you know, Mee Rebus, they use the yellow noodles .. i think the taste has gone a bit bad... yucks!! .. this noodles is really really bad!! ...
Next is the Rojak. It's the same comment - the gravy tasted kinda funny - i took a taste on it and i don't like it at all .. :( bad recommendation!!!
Dad ordered a cendol too .. that was just okay~

Rojak - RM2.5, Cendol RM1.5

Mom and I wasn't satisfy coz we didn't have a proper good meal yet!!! yes .. NO PROPER MEAL YET!!!
We then head to the market area and stopped by at this stall called Ah Chai Rojak - hoping so badly that it would taste something good .... it's a fruit rojak - the taste, not as good as KL ... but definitely much better than the mee rebus and rojak .. haha

Ah Chai rojak - RM2

Mom was really hungry, she couldn't take it anymore, so dad fetch her to the nearest coffee shop and she ordered a plate of char siew rice. the cahr siew sauce was soo sweet. I really wonder, does the peeps at Teluk Intan lurves SWEET stuffs? Howcome almost everything that we've tried also sweet?????!?!?!? *bizzare*

Next stop was our last stop - Fried Chicken @ Jalan Chongkat Jong. The name of the shop was G. Besum Gulam (think I got the name right) .. it mainly serve nasi kandar over there. I was so happy to be there - as in finally i can try out proper foooooood!!! .. a piece of the chicken was rm2.5.. pretty expensive - as the portion was kinda small .. anyway, I tried the chicken - it uses those spices to deep fry it - not bad - but a bit salty. Well, it's to savour it with rice .. ahha but eventually i didn't order any nasi kandar .. just try the chicken and left the place.

Fried Chicken - RM5

Finally we head straight home, didn't have any good food stomache was kinda empty ans was very disappointing!! ... I reached home at about 4.15pm ... was really hungry - took the heong paeng and eat .. ahah .. then later cook mee suah for dinner .. and it tasted so good compare to those food we had at Teluk Intan ...
Our food hunting today was dissapointing ... no nice food ... aiii ... but this bowl of noodle did fill up my tummy .. ahha

mee suah with vegetables

Oriental Pavilion, Jaya 33

Went to Oriental Pavilion for dinner last Saturday night with my family and darling. Lucky I've made early reservation (on Thursday) .. wanted to book for a private room, guess what? All taken.. The private rooms looks so exclusive, see through glasses, and I really like the entire restaurant's designs which I feel comfortable dining there.

So, what did we order? My brother was in charge that night, Let's take a look at the pictures ...
Here's the first dish,

This is the taufu, I don't know what's the name they call this dish, the base, they use the "bo choy" and top up with taufu, they toop with some mushrooms. This dish is not that bad, it's like an ordinary taufu dish to me, nothing special. The sauce is a bit too starchy, maybe they should re-adjust on that part :)

This is the "Salted Egg Deep Fried Prawn". It's rich with salted egg yolks, two thumbs up for this!!! yep... The taste is just nice. The chef garnish the side with onions strips which I finish that up too ...I would definitely order this dish again when I'm there ... :)

This is the "Smoked Chicken", from the name, yep, indeed when u taste it, there's smoke taste in that chicken. It's something different and everyone really enjoyed this dish. The greens are "Yau Mak", it's raw, the chef mixed it with some salad sauce, it's just a bit of salad sauce ... this dish is good too ...

Apart from the 3 dishes that I've mentioned, there are two more that my brother ordered, "Kai Lan" (vegetable) and also the pork which serve with buns " .??? " sorry I forgot what's the name of that dish
Both of these are pretty fine too ...
Later then when everyone is done with their dinner, brother asked me whether or not I would like to have desserts~~~ ... YES of course - YUMMY!!

He called the on of the captains, guess what? they don't have a menu and what they did was tell us out verbally ... weird huh? Maybe they just open a week ago, they don't have the full menu for the patrons ...

This is mom's and my dessert - Aleo Vera with Sea coconut boiled with longan. Tell me, does it looks appetizing to you? and the sides, messy sides, this is how they serve it to me . Don't feel like eating it huh? hahhaha. ... Anyway I took a dessert spoon, it doesn't taste good, no sea coconut taste at all, just a few strip of aleo vera and those brown colour thingy is longan... definitely a ZERO for this ...

Dinner ended .. thanks to my bro, the bill came up to about rm300++, a bit pricy~ hahah
Go and try peeps, let me know about other dishes ... : )

Food Foundry

Today I went to Food Foundry at section 17/13 for lunch with mom and sis. I was so excited to go there and try as I've read some of other people's blog about this place. I'm sorry coz I didn't bring my camera along. Didn't manage to snap any pixz.. First I ordered the
  • Ceaser Salad which cost rm7.9 - it's just vegetables, crutons, hard boiled eggs into 1/4, and some ceaser sauce.
  • Gratin Mussels rm8.9 - 5 mussels top with cheese
  • Fried rice rm8.9 - one protion of fried rice with some chicken meat, two fried chicken, two prawns, and some salad vegetables on the side
  • Club Sandwich rm11.9 - hard type of whole meal bread with fried egg, one slice of chicken fillet, bacon, and also tomatoes, cucumber and sauce
  • Cranberry soda rm5.0
So here are my food comments
  • The Ceaser Salad was a bit plain, and the sauce wasn't enough. The chef toss with some cheese which I don't really like it. We feel that it was a bit too dry, so we asked the waiter for some extra sauce. Any how we didn't really enjoy the salad.
  • My mom's fried rice was a bit disappointing. When sh first order she already said no chili as she's not feeling too well, so the order came, the first taste was kinda nice - a bit sour taste (lime juice) but there's SPICY taste in that rice, my mom have to reject the order and they are kind enough to do so. The second time when they re-do the fried rice, yep, there isn't any chili inside, but this time, it's salty and a lot of pepper. My mom was too hungry and just eat whatever she's being served.
  • My sis's Club Sandwich arrived and the overall taste wasn't that bad. Quite nice but the bread as a bit too hard.
  • Cranberry soda was just normal .. nothing to shout about.
  • Looks like I've missed something out rite? Yep, the Grantin Mussels - not that I forget to mention, but they overlooked my order.. so I just canceled the order.
Mommy wasn't happy with the food there. It's just slightly below the average standard. She was pretty upset with her fried rice. she couldn't finish the whole plate. Left back about 1/4. She then complain again to the waiter about the taste. He asked whether she needs another replacement, well my mom said no thanks coz she's already full. No more space to fill in another plate. I wanted to try their crepe .. but already no mood to eat .. I finally ask for the bill it comes up to the total of rm35.39 .. I feel it's pretty expensive for that kind of food.
